BIO

Carlos A. Bertulani is a theoretical physicist with a PhD degree from the University of Bonn, Germany. He was a professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro from 1980-1999 and a visiting professor (for one year or more) at Michigan State University, University of Wisconsin, Brookhaven National Laboratory,  Gesellschaft fuer Schwerionenforschung, University of Arizona, and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Currently, he is a faculty at the Department of Physics of the Texas A&M University-Commerce, working on nuclear physics and astrophysics.

As of 2009, he is the author of 5 textbooks, including Physics of Radioactive Nuclear Beams, Introduction to Nuclear Physics, Introduction to Nuclear Reactions and Nuclear Physics in a Nutshell.

He has edited 5 books of conference proceedings, published over 150 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, and presented more than 170 talks in conferences and scientific institutions. He is also author of several popular articles, including "Relativistic heavy-ion physics without nuclear contact", which was front cover of Physics Today, in March of 1994.
