RIEFSTAHL, RUDOLF M.:  Appointed for studies of Oriental influence in the decorative arts of Southern Italy, abroad; tenure, four months during the summer of 1934.

Born August 9, 1880, in Bavaria.  Education:  University of Göttingen, 1897–1903; University of Strassburg, Ph.D., 1904.

Lecturer on German, 1903–10, Sorbonne and Ecole Normale Superieure, Paris; Lecturer on Textiles, 1916, University of California; Professor of Art, 1924–30, Lecturer, 1933, New York University; Research Fellow, College Art Association, 1930–33.

Publications:  Carmina Magliabecchiana, 1903; Persian Pottery of the Parish-Watson Collection, 1922; Persian and Indian Textiles of the 16th–18th Centuries, 1922; Turkish Architecture in Southwestern Anatolia, 1931.
