BIO

SAS, LOUIS FURMAN:  Appointed for the preparation of a book to be entitled “Society and Language during the Merovingian Period,” an investigation of the origins of the Romance Languages; tenure, twelve months from September 1, 1940.

Born January 12, 1908, at Chelsea, Massachusetts. Education:  College of the City  of New York, A.B., 1928; Columbia University, A.M., 1930, Ph.D., 1937.

Tutor in Romance Languages, 1929–35, Instructor, 1935—, College of the City of New York.

Publications:  The Noun Declension System in Merovingian Latin, 1937; Les Grands Savants Français, 1939. Articles and reviews in Le Héraut, Revue des Etudes Latines.
