SCATCHARD, GEORGE:  Appointed for studies in the theory of liquid solutions, in consultation with European authorities; tenure, twelve months from August 1, 1931.

Born March 19, 1892, at Oneonta, New York. Education: Amherst College, A.B., 1913; Columbia University, Ph.D., 1917 (Goldschmidt Fellow, 1915–16). National Research Fellow, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1923–24.

 Assistant in Chemistry, 1914–15, Research Assistant, 1916–17, Columbia University; Associate Professor of Chemistry, 1919–23, Amherst College; Temporary Assistant Professor of Physical Chemistry, 1924–26, Associate Professor, 1926—, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
