Born November 19, 1887, at Canton, Massachusetts. Education:  Harvard University, A.B., 1910, A.M., 1913, Ph.D., 1914. C. R. B. Fellow, University of Brussels, 1921-22.; studies at University of Stockholm, 1929–30.

Acting Professor of Chemistry, 1911, Mt. Allison College; Assistant in Chemistry, 1911–12, Worcester Polytechnic Institute; Assistant Professor of Biological Chemistry, 1914–29, Professor, 1929—, Cornell University.
