Gordon Teskey is Professor of English at Harvard University, specializing in Renaissance poetry.

He is the author of Allegory and Violence (Cornell UP, 1996) and Delirious Milton: The Fate of the Poet in Modernity (Harvard UP, 2006), for which he won the Milton Society of America’s James Holly Hanford Prize. He also edited Unfolded Tales: Essays on Renaissance Romance (with George M. Logan) (Cornell UP, 1989) and the Norton Critical Edition of Paradise Lost (2005). He contributed a number of articles to The Spenser Encyclopedia, to numerous anthologies, as well as to such prominent journals as PMLA, ELH, and Spenser Studies.

Educated at Trent University (B.A., 1976) and the University of Toronto (M.A., 1977; Ph.D., 1981), Mr. Teskey taught at Cornell University for twenty years, rising from assistant to full professor, before accepting his current appointment at Harvard University.

During his Guggenheim Fellowship term, he will continue work on his study Myth and Metaphysics in Early Modern Poetry, 1590-1674.
