DEMOREST, MAX HARRISON.  Appointed for studies of the physics of ice, in particular quantitative laboratory studies of the structure and flow of glacial ice; tenure, sixteen months from June 1, 1942 (postponed).

Born February 18, 1910, Flint, Michigan.  Education:  University of Michigan, A.B., 1934; University of Cincinnati, M.S., 1936; Princeton University, Ph.D., 1938 (Libby Fellow, 1937–38). Sterling Fellow, Yale University, 1939–40; National Research Council Fellow, 1940–41.

Assistant Instructor in Geology, 1934–36, University of Cincinnati; Assistant Instructor in Geology, 1936–37, Princeton University; Assistant Professor of Geology, 1938–39, University of South Dakota; Instructor in Geology, 1939—, Wesleyan University.
