HAYWOOD, RICHARD MANSFIELD:  Appointed for studies of the cities of Roman Africa, their political and economic organization, and their relations with the surrounding country and with each other; tenure, twelve months from August 1, 1939.

Born June 12, 1905, at Lynn, Massachusetts.  Education:  Dartmouth College, A.B., 1926; Harvard University, 1926–27; Johns Hopkins University, Ph.D., 1932.

Instructor in Latin, 1932–33, Associate, 1933—, Johns Hopkins University.

Publications:  Studies on Scipio Africanus, 1933. Articles and reviews in American Journal of Philology, American Historical Review.  Contributor to An Economic Survey of Ancient Rome, 1938.
