JONES, JOE:  Appointed for creative work in painting; tenure, twelve months from April 1, 1937.

Born April 7, 1909, at St. Louis, Missouri.

Exhibited at Whitney Museum of American Art and Worcester Art Museum, 1934, 1935, 1936; Detroit Institute of Arts, 1937; Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, 1937. One man show, William Rockhill Nelson Gallery, Kansas City, 1936; Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, 1936; Seattle Art Museum, 1937. Awarded Baldwin Portrait Prize, St. Louis, 1930; St. Louis Art Guild prize, 1931 and 1932; Otto L. Spaeth Prize, St. Louis, 1931; honorable mention, City Art Museum, St. Louis, 1933. Represented in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, Metropolitan Museum.
