KAPSTEIN, ISRAEL JAMES. Appointed for creative writing in the field of fiction; tenure, eight months from July 1, 1944.

Born January 16, 1904, Fall River, Massachusetts. Education:  Brown University, A.B., 1926, A.M., 1929, Ph.D., 1933 (Sharpe Fellow in English, 1931–33).

Instructor in English, 1927–35, Assistant Professor, 1935–44, Associate Professor, 1944—, Brown University.

Publications:  Something of a Hero, 1941. Contributor to New Letters in America, 1937; The Flying Yorkshireman, 1938; Articles, stories and poems in Story Magazine, Poetry, Publications of the Modern Language Association, Shakespeare Association Bulletin.
