BARTON, ROY FRANKLIN:  Appointed for the recording, translating and annotating of the Hudhud, a series of epics chanted as work songs and at death wakes by the Ifugaos, a pagan, terrace-building people of the Philippine Islands; tenure, twelve months from May 15, 1941.

Born February 25, 1883, at Pleasant Hill, Illinois.  Education:  University of California, D.D.S., 1919; Institute of Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences, Leningrad, M.Sc., 1935.
