Latimer, Wendell Mitchell:  Appointed for a study of the thermodynamic treatment of solutions with a view to extending work on the entropy of aqueous ions, chiefly at the Universities of Leipzig and Munich; tenure, six months from January 1, 1930.

Born April 22, 1893, at Garnett, Kansas. Education: University of Kansas, A. B., 1915; University of Chicago, Graduate Student, 1916; University of California, Ph. D., 1919.

Lecturer in Chemistry, 1918, Assistant Professor, 1921–24, Assistant Dean, College of Letters and Science, 1923–24, Associate Professor, 1924—, University of California.

Publications: “A Course in General Chemistry,” 1924; “Reference Book of Inorganic Chemistry,” 1928. Articles in Journal of American Chemical Society and Journal of Physical Chemistry.
