MARSHAK, ALFRED GEORGE:  Appointed for investigations on the mechanism of chromosome division, especially the nature of chromosome structure as revealed by response to treatment with x-rays and with neutrons; tenure, twelve months from September 1, 1938.

Born June 2, 1907, in New York City.  Education:  Cornell University, B.S., 1930; Harvard University, M.A., 1932, Ph.D., 1934.

Assistant in General Physiology, 1933–34, Harvard University; Assistant in General Physiology, 1934–35, Radcliffe College; Research Fellowship in Pathology, 1937–38, New England Deaconess Hospital.
