MATHEWS, JOHN JOSEPH: Appointed for the preparation of a book based on the conflicting expressions of two races, the American Indian and the invading European, in religion, philosophy and the creative arts; tenure, twelve months from September 1, 1939.
Born November 16, 1895, at Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Education: University of Oklahoma, B.A., 1920; University of Oxford, B.A., 1923; University of Geneva, 1923.
Rancher; Member of the Osage Tribal Council, 1934—.
