SPEDDING, FRANK HAROLD:  Appointed for studies of solids at low temperatures with particular emphasis on their line like absorption spectra, their magnetic susceptibilities, their electrical conductivities and the relations between these, in European laboratories; tenure, twelve months from July 1, 1934.

Born October 22, 1902, in Ontario. Education:  University of Michigan, B.S., 1925, M.S., 1926; University of California, Ph.D., 1929.  National Research Fellow, University of California, 1930–32. Langmuir Award in Chemistry, 1933.

Instructor in Chemistry, 1929–30, 1932—, University of California.

Publications:  Articles in Nature, Physical Review, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Journal of Chemical Physics.
