JONES, GEORGE NEVILLE.  Appointed for the completion of a study of the botany of the Northwest Coast of North America; tenure, from October 1, 1944 to January 31, 1945 and from June 1, 1945 to September 30, 1945.

Born January 26, 1904, in England. Education:  State College of Washington, B.S., 1930, M.S., 1931; University of Washington, Ph.D., 1937; Harvard University, 1937–39.

Assistant in Botany, 1933–37, University of Washington; Instructor and Tutor in the Division of Biology, Harvard University, and Technical Assistant in the Arnold Arboretum, 1938–39; Associate Botanist, 1940–44, Assistant Professor, 1944—, University of Illinois.

Publications:   Articles in Northwest Science, Studies of the State College of Washington, Rhodora, Bryologist, Madroño, Washington Historical Quarterly, University of Washington Publications in Biology, Leaflets of Western Botany, Journal of the Arnold Arboretum, Science, Transactions of the Illinois Academy of Science, American Midland Naturalist.  Contributor to Grout’s Moss Flora of North America, 1933.
