Whyburn, Gordon Thomas:  Appointed to do research in point set theory, with particular emphasis on the structure of continua and of continuous curves, and to confer with the authorities in the field, in Europe; tenure, twelve months from September 15, 1929.

Born January 7, 1904, at Lewisville, Texas.  Education: University of Texas, B. A., 1925, M. A., 1926, Ph. D., 1927.

Instructor in Pure Mathematics, 1926–27, Adjunct Professor, 1927-–29, University of Texas; Acting Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Stanford University, Summer, 1929.
