Hopfield, John Joseph: Appointed for experimental study of the Zeeman effect on the infra-red spectra of oxygen and nitrogen with reference to the classification of the extreme ultra-violet spectra of these elements, chiefly with Professor F. Paschen, of Berlin; tenure, twelve months from August 1, 1928.

Born August 8, 1891, in Poland. Education: Syracuse University, A.B., 1917; University of California, Ph.D., 1923.
