Born September 16, 1891, Center Harbor, New Hampshire. Education:  Radcliffe College, 1904–05; University of California, A.B., 1925, M.A., 1927, Ph.D., 1930 (Alexander Morrison Fellow, 1930).

Research Assistant in Astronomy, 1926–30, Instructor, 1930–31, University of California; Assistant Professor of Mathematics, 1931–32, Rollins College; Assistant Professor of Astronomy, 1932–36, Associate Professor, Chairman of the Department and Director of the Observatory, 1936—, Vassar College.
