Born April 8, 1911, St. Paul, Minnesota. Education:  Michigan College of Mining and Technology, B.S., 1931; University of Minnesota, Ph.D., 1935; Fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation at the University of Manchester, 1935–37.

Assistant in Chemistry, 1931–35, University of Minnesota; Instructor in Chemistry, 1937–41, Assistant Professor, 1941—, University of California; Official Investigator, 1940—, National Defense Research Committee.

Publications:  The Theory of Organic Chemistry (with Gerald E. K. Branch, 1941.
