Hannay, Neilson Campbell:  Appointed for the preparation of a biography of the poet William Cowper and a collected edition of all known letters collated with the originals in Great Britain, America, and elsewhere; tenure, twelve months from June 1, 1930.

Born October 17, 1880, at Princetown, Schenectady, New York. Education: Union University, B.A., 1902, M.A., 1913; Auburn Theological Seminary, graduated 1905 (Presbyterian Board of Education scholarship), B.D., 1906 (Pitkin Scholarship); United Free Church College, Glasgow, Scotland, 1906–07 (Carnegie Scholarship); University of Halle, 1908–09; University of Chicago, Summer Quarters, 1915–17; Harvard University, M.A., 1919, Ph.D., 1919 (Austin and Willard Scholarships).

Instructor in English, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and in Latin, German, and Public Speaking, Troy Academy, 1910–12; Professor of English, 1913–18, Acadia University; Religious Education Surveyor, Interchurch World Movement, 1920; Associate Professor of English, 1920–22, Colby College; Professor of English, 1922—, Boston University.
