Jon Kinzel has presented his work, including numerous commissions and solo shows, in a variety of national and international venues. He has received critical accolades for his work at The Kitchen, The Chocolate Factory, La MaMa, Danspace, Gibney, PS 122, Dixon Place, and The Invisible Dog. He has maintained a decades-long and deeply interrelated choreographic and visual art practice, served as a curator and sound designer, and contributed to publications such as SFMoMA Open Space, SCHIZM Magazine, PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art, and MR Performance Journal. He has been awarded residencies at BAC, NYLA, EMPAC, BAX, Gibney, The Yard, Jacob’s Pillow, Dance House, and Telematic. His MacDowell Fellowship led to the creation of Queens Terminus (2022), The Chocolate Factory, NYC. He feels fortunate to have performed and collaborated with artists across several disciplines – recently with Vicky Shick, Elena Demyanenko, Yvonne Rainer/Emily Coates, Nina Katan, Jody Melnick, Cathy Weis, Jennifer Miller, Jarrod Beck, Seline Baumgartner, Cassim Shepard, Kuldeep Singh, John Kelly, Patricia Hoffbauer, and Nicky Paraiso/John Jesurun. He has taught at several university, liberal arts, and conservatory settings as well as Lincoln Center Education/New York City schools, Merce Cunningham Trust, New York Studio School, and Movement Research.
