Thaler, Alwin:  Appointed for the preparation of a book to be entitled “Strolling Players,” with particular reference to their methods, organization, and characteristics, from mediaeval to modern times, their special relationship and contribution to English theatre and drama; and also the completion of other studies in the English drama of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries; tenure, twelve months from September 1, 1929.

Born January 10, 1891, at Hamburg, Germany. Education: Adelphi College, B. A., 1912; Columbia University, M. A., 1914; Harvard University, Ph. D., 1918 (Thayer Fellow, 1917-–8; Weld Fellow, 1918–19; Sheldon Travelling Fellow, 1919–20).
