JONES, CHARLES WILLIAMS:  Appointed for studies of the state of knowledge of the physical sciences in the early Middle Ages, in particular as revealed in the scientific works of the Venerable Bede; tenure, twelve months from August 15, 1939.

Born September 23, 1905, at Lincoln, Nebraska.  Education:  Oberlin College, B.A., 1926; Cornell University, M.A., 1930, Ph.D., 1932. Fellow, American Council of Learned Societies, 1935–36.

Instructor in English, 1932–35, Oberlin College; Instructor in English, 1936–38, Assistant Professor, 1938—, Cornell University.
