David R. Kassoy

David R. Kassoy retired from the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the University of Colorado, Boulder (UCB), in 2008 following thirty-nine years of academic service. He continues his scholarly pursuits through Kassoy Innovative Science Solutions LLC, a small business he created to access federal grants and contracts. Currently (2013) he is developing mathematical models for the thermo-mechanics of compressible gases with application to rocket motor stability, supernovae explosions, accidental explosions, and engine knock. He continues to present his research at numerous combustion and fluid mechanics conferences.He serves as a volunteer at UCB and is the Vice President and President-elect of the University of Colorado Retired Faculty Association and represents the Association’s interests at the Boulder Faculty Assembly, the UCB faculty governance organization. He and his wife, Caryl, travel widely to visit grandchildren on the East Coast and friends in faraway places. In nice weather he cycles 25-30 miles to and from nearby coffee shops for a snack and a warm drink. Retirement is a time to do what you want to do when you want to do it!
