LEHMER, DERRICK HENRY:  Appointed for research in the analytic theory of numbers, especially in connection with the arithmetical theory of elliptic modular functions; tenure, twelve months from September 1, 1938.

Born February 23, 1905, at Berkeley, California.  Education:  University of California, A.B., 1927; University of Chicago, 1927-28; Brown University, Sc. M., 1929, Ph.D., 1930 (Sharpe Fellow, 1929–30). National Research Council Fellow, California Institute of Technology, 1930–31, Stanford University, 1931–32; worker at the Institute for Advanced Study, 1933–34.

Instructor in Mathematics, 1934–37, Assistant Professor, 1937—, Lehigh University; Lecturer, Stanford University, Summer, 1934.
