HAUGEN, EINAR INGVALD.  Appointed for studies of the linguistic experiences and behavior of Norwegian immigrants in the United States, with special reference to the historical, social and cultural processes of immigrant life; tenure, twelve months from June 1, 1942.

Born April 19, 1906, Sioux City, Iowa.  Education:  Morningside College, 1924–27; St. Olaf College, B.A., 1928; University of Illinois, M.A., 1929, Ph.D., 1931 (University Fellow, 1930–31).

Assistant Professor of Scandinavian Languages, 1931–36, Associate Professor, 1936–38, Professor, 1938—, University of Wisconsin.
