BITTER, FRANCIS: Appointed for studies in the field of magnetism with especial reference to the structure of crystals, chiefly at the Cavendish Laboratory of the University of Cambridge; tenure, twelve months from April 1, 1933.

Born July 22, 1902, at Weehawken, New Jersey. Education:  University of Chicago, 1919–22; Columbia University, A.B., 1924, Ph.D., 1928; University of Berlin, 1925–26. National Research Fellow, Princeton University and California Institute of Technology, 1928–30.

Research Physicist, 1930–33, Westinghouse Laboratories.

Publications:  Articles in Physical Review, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Physikalische Zeitschrift, Mechanical Engineering, Metallwirtschaft.
