BOWLES, GORDON TOWNSEND.  Appointed for studies of functional adaptations in the human skeleton based on Hawaiian skeletal materials; tenure, twelve months from the Autumn of 1942 (postponed).

Born June 25, 1904, in Japan.  Education:  Earlham College, A.B., 1925; Tokyo Imperial University, special student, 1926–27; University of Pennsylvania, 1927–28; Harvard University, Ph.D., 1935; Harvard-Yenching Fellow, 1930–32.

Lecturer in English, 1925–26, Dai Ichi Koto Gakko, Tokyo; Assistant in Anthropology, 1930–34, Research Associate, 1935–37, Harvard University, for research in Tibet and North India; Assistant Professor of Anthropology, 1938–41, University of Hawaii.

Publications:  New Types of Old Americans at Harvard, 1932. Article in Bulletin of the Geological Society of China.
