Slochower, Harry:  Appointed to make a study of the infiltration of Schopenhauer’s pessimism into German literature, in particular of that phase of modern German literature that may be said to form a chapter in the history of pessimism; tenure, twelve months from July 1, 1929.

Born September 1, 1900, in Bukowina, (now) Roumania. Education: College of the City of New York, B. S., 1923; Columbia University, M. A., 1924, Ph. D., 1928; Universities of Munich, Berlin, Heidelberg, 1925–26.

Instructor in German, 1924, 1926, Columbia University Extension Division; Tutor in German, 1926, Instructor in German and Comparative Literature in the School of Education, 1927—, College of the City of New York.
