MATTSON, HENRY ELIS: Appointed for creative work in painting, abroad and in the United States; tenure, twelve months from April 1, 1936.

Born August 7, 1887, in Sweden.

Instructor, 1934, Woodstock School of Painting.

Exhibited at Los Angeles Museum, Art Institute of Chicago, Carnegie International, Whitney Museum of American Art, Cleveland Museum, Corcoran Gallery, Pennsylvania Academy, National Academy.  Awarded Harris Medal, Art Institute of Chicago, 1932; Second Purchase Prize, Worcester Art Museum, 1933; W. A. Clark Prize and Corcoran Bronze Medal, Corcoran Gallery, 1935. Represented in the permanent collections of Phillips Memorial Gallery; Municipal Art Gallery, Davenport, Iowa; Whitney Museum of American Art; Worcester Art Museum; White House, Washington, D. C.; Metropolitan Museum of Art.
