FRIESS, HORACE LELAND.  Appointed for a study of the posthumous manuscripts of Dr. Felix Adler, with a view to preparing an intellectual biography of Dr. Adler; tenure, twelve months from July 1, 1942.

Born March 4, 1900, New York City.  Education:  Columbia University, A.B., 1918, Ph.D., 1926. Cutting Traveling Fellow, 1924–25, at the University of Heidelberg.

Assistant in Philosophy, 1919–21, Instructor, 1921–26, Assistant Professor, 1926–36, Associate Professor, 1936—, Columbia University. Visiting Lecturer in Philosophy, 1932–33, Johns Hopkins University.

Publications:  Schleiermacher’s Soliloquies, 1926; co-author (with H. W. Schneider) of Religion in Various Cultures, 1932; contributor to Essays in Honor of John Dewey, 1929; contributor (with H. M.
