Born April 5, 1905, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Education:  Whittier College, B.A., 1927; Stanford University, M.A., 1928; University of Paris, 1929–31; University of California, Ph.D., 1937.

Associate in English, 1931–33, University of California; Instructor in English, 1937–40, Briggs-Copeland Faculty Instructor in English, 1940–43, Harvard University.

Publications:  Orange Valley, 1931; Induction to Tragedy, 1939; A Letter from the Country and Other Poems, 1941.
