LEONARD, IRVING ALBERT:  Appointed for research into the cultural and intellectual history of Colonial Spanish America, in particular a study of its book trade during the 16th and 17th centuries; tenure, eight months from May 1, 1937.

Born December 1, 1896, at New Haven, Connecticut. Education:  Yale University, Ph.B., 1918; University of California, M.A., 1925, Ph.D., 1928. Fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies, 1930–31.

Professor of Mathematics, 1921–22, University of the Philippines; Instructor of Spanish, 1929–31, Assistant Professor, 1932—, University of California.
