Steefel, Lawrence D.:  Appointed for a study of the first year of Bismark’s ministry in its international setting, in European archives; tenure, twelve months from August 1, 1929.

Born June 25, 1894, at Rochester, New York. Education: Harvard University, A. B., 1916, M. A., 1917, Ph. D., 1923 (Parker Travelling Fellowship, 1920–21; John Harvard Travelling Fellowship, 1921–22).

Assistant in History, 1919, 1922–23, Austin Teaching Fellow, 1919–20, Harvard University; Instructor in History, 1923–25, Assistant Professor, 1925—, University of Minnesota; University of California, Summer Session, 1927.

Awarded the Toppan Prize for thesis on the Schleswig-Holstein Question, 1863-64, in the Division of History, Government, and Economics, Harvard University.
