Born March 1, 1900, at Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Education:  Cornell University, B.S., 1924; Princeton University, M.A., Ph.D., 1938.

Archaeological Assistant, 1927–29, Director, 1929–31, Harvard-American School of Oriental Research Expedition at Nuzi; Research Fellow, 1931–35, Fogg Museum; Member, 1935–39, Institute for Advanced Study.
