GELFAN, SAMUEL:  Appointed to continue experimental investigations concerning the nature of the sub-maximal contractions of single muscle fibres, chiefly with Professor E. D. Adrian at the University of Cambridge; tenure, twelve months from September 1, 1932.

Born January 16, 1903, in Russia. Education: University of California, B.A., 1925, Ph.D., 1927.

Teaching Fellow in Zoology, 1925–27, University of California; Donnelly Research Fellow in Physiology, 1928–30, University of Chicago; Assistant Professor of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1930–32, University of Alberta, Canada.
