Born September 16, 1897, at Tacoma, Washington.  Education: University of Washington, 1915–16; National Academy of Design, 1916–18; Art Students League, 1919–20; Hawthorne Summer School, 1917, 1919; Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts,  Paris, 1920–22.
