SCUDDER, TOWNSEND, III.  Appointed for the writing of a biographical history of the town of Concord, Massachusetts, from its founding in 1935 to the present; tenure, twelve months from June 15, 1943. 

Born August 27, 1900, at Glenwood, New York.  Education:  Yale University, B.A., 1923, Ph.D., 1933.

Instructor in English, 1924–31, Yale University; Assistant Professor of English, 1931–40, Associate Professor, 1940—, Swarthmore College.
