Wayne Miller has given to the University of Chicago’s Department of History a collection of his photographs of Chicago’s South Side taken during the 1940s, which the department will keep on permanent display in various locations around the university.  Mr. Miller is renowned not only for his depiction of the poor conditions endured by African Americans migrating north in search of a better life, but also for capturing such momentous points in history as FDR’s funeral and the destruction of Hiroshima.
