Born July 21, 1891, at Arequipa, Peru.  Education:  University of San Agustín, Arequipa, 1907; Military School of Chorrillos, 1908–10; Military Schools at Saint-Maixent and Saint-Cyr, France, 1911–13; Higher School of War Studies, Chorrillos, 1918–19; University of Berlin, 1930–32.

Professor of the Physical Geography and Climatology of Peru, 1936—, University of San Agustín, Arequipa; Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Lima.
