Dora Budor
Competition: US & Canada
Dora Budor (b. 1984, Croatia) is a New York based artist. Using installation and sculpture, Budor’s work inhabits cinematic ecosystems and unstable architectures. Her works are constructed as complex systems, in which each element exists in interdependency with the other. This often includes specificity and context of the site, to which the work reacts and negotiates its initial conditions.
Budor has exhibited extensively throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. Her recent and forthcoming solo exhibitions include Kunsthalle Basel (2019), 80WSE (2018), Ramiken Crucible (2016) and Swiss Institute (2015). Budor participated in exhibitions at Whitney Museum of American Art, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Palais de Tokyo, Swiss Institute, Museum Fridericianum, Kunsthalle Biel, La Panacee Montpellier, Halle für Kunst und Medien, MOCA Belgrade, K11 Art Museum, David Roberts Art Foundation, as well as in 9th Berlin Biennial, Vienna Biennale, Art Encounters 2017, 13th Baltic Triennial, and forthcoming 16th Istanbul Biennial. Budor was awarded Rema Hort Emerging Art Grant in 2014 and Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant in 2018.
