BISTRAN, EMIL JAMES:  Appointed for creative work in painting, chiefly in Mexico; tenure, twelve months from June 1, 1931.

Born April 7, 1895, in Hungary. Education:  Cooper Union Art School; National Academy of Design; New York School of Fine and Applied Art.

Associate Instructor, 1925–28, New York School of Fine and Applied Art; Instructor, 1928—, The Master Institute of the Roerich Museum.

Exhibited at Venice International, 1930; Philadelphia Water Color Show, New York Water Color Show, American Federation of Arts. Awarded first prize, Pennsylvania Water Color Exhibition, 1926; Purchase Prize, New York Water Color Club and American Watercolor Society, 1927; Purchase Fund Prize, New York Watercolor Club and American Watercolor Society, 1930.
