Henri Peyre

Peyre, Henri Maurice:  Appointed for the continuation of researches in France on Louis Mènard, a French man of Letters of the XIX Century, and the completing of a work on that subject; tenure, twelve months from September 1, 1930.

Born February 21, 1901, at Paris, France. Education: Lycée d’Avignon, Baccalauréat-es-Lettres, 1918; Lycée Louis le Grand, License-es-Lettres, 1922; Sorbonne and Ecole Normale Supérieures, 1923, Agrégation, 1924.

Lecturer and Associate in French, Bryn Mawr College, 1925–28; Assistant Professor of French, Yale University, 1928—; visiting Professor, Summer, 1930, University of Chicago.

Publications: Translated into French J. G. Frazer’s “Attis and Osiris,” 1926, and “Taboo,” 1927; translated into English J. Poux’s “The City of Carcassonne,” 1926. Articles in Revue Anglo-Américaine, Modern Language Notes, Publications of Modern Language Association of America, The Dial, University of California Chronicle, The Romanic Review, The French Review.
