LA MONTE, JOHN LIFE:  Appointed for the preparation of a work to be entitled “The Noble Houses of ‘Outremer,’” genealogical and biographical studies of the Crusading States; tenure, twelve months from June 12, 1937.

Born October 10, 1902, at Columbus, Ohio.  Education: Ohio State University, B.A., M.A., 1923; Harvard University, M.A., 1924, Ph.D., 1929. Social Science Research Council Fellow, 1929–30.

Instructor in History, 1925–27, Ohio State University; Instructor in History, 1927–29, University of Nebraska; Lecturer in History, 1930–31, University of Minnesota; Assistant Professor of History, 1931—, University of Cincinnati.

Publications:  Feudal Monarchy in the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem, 1100-1291, 1932; A Syllabus and Reading List to Accompany Carl Stephenson’s Mediaeval History, 1936. Translator (with M. J. Hubert) of The Wars of Frederick II against the Ibelins in Syria and Cyprus by Philip de Novare, 1936. Associate editor of and contributor to Haskins Anniversary Essays, 1930.
