Peter Evans is a composer, trumpet player and improviser from Massachusetts based in New York City since 2003. Evans has been composing for his own bands and touring extensively in the USA, Europe, Asia and South America for 15 years, and has released 20 albums of his own work. A pioneer in the field of solo trumpet performance, Evans has been presenting solo works worldwide and has released 6 albums of solo music to date, with “The Veil” (2020) being the most recent. A composer for improvising and notation-based ensembles, Evans has been commissioned by Yarn/Wire, The International Contemporary Ensemble, Wet Ink, the Doris Duke Foundation, the Darmstadt Festival, Donaueschingen Festival, and has done residencies at New York venues Roulette Intermedium and Issue Project Room. A collaborator with some of the leading figures in contemporary music, Evans has sustained a career balancing instrumental performance, composition, and collaborative work, much of it documented on his record label More is More since 2011.
