Rebecca Soderholm is a photographer whose work focuses on rural America. Her current work, “Hare Scramble,” follows off-road motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle racers who test their grit and endurance against hardscrabble landscapes and challenging conditions.
Soderholm received a M.F.A. from Yale University in photography and a B.F.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology in photojournalism. Her work has been published in The New York Times Sunday Review and The New York Times Magazine. She was awarded the Meredith S. Moody Artist in Residence at Yaddo, two fellowships at the Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts, and the Yale University Art Gallery Doran Residency in Italy. Her pictures have been exhibited at 511 Gallery in New York and are in the permanent collection of the Yale University Art Gallery and the Smith College Museum of Art. Soderholm was a Marcia Brady Tucker Curatorial Fellow at the Yale University Art Gallery and has held teaching positions at SUNY Plattsburgh and Yale University.
She is currently an Associate Professor of Art and the Arts & Sciences Associate Dean of Curriculum at Drew University. She lives in Keene Valley, New York and in New York City.
