Samantha Hunt is the author of four books. Mr. Splitfoot, a ghost story, is a New York Times Editors’ Choice. The Invention of Everything Else, Hunt’s novel about inventor Nikola Tesla, was a finalist for the Orange Prize and winner of the Bard Fiction Prize. Her first novel, The Seas, won the National Book Foundation’s Five under Thirty-five prize. Hunt’s first collection of stories is The Dark Dark.
Hunt has performed in BAM’s Next Wave Festival, with the NTUSA at PS122, at Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater, at REDCAT, and at All Tomorrow’s Parties with Jim Jarmusch.
Samantha Hunt is the recipient of a NYFA grant, a Peter S. Reed Foundation grant, a MacDowell Fellowship, and winner of the Jeannette Haien Ballard Prize. Her work has been translated into nine languages. She teaches at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and lives in Tivoli, New York.
