Barnes, Viola Florence:  Appointed to do research in English archives on England’s colonial policy, particularly in relation to Massachusetts; tenure, twelve months from June 15, 1930.

Born August 28, 1885, at Albion, Nebraska.  Education: University of Nebraska, A.B., 1909, A.M., 1910 (Teaching Fellowship, 1910–13); Yale University, Ph.D., 1919 (Currier Fellowship, 1916–17; Susan Rhoda Cutler Fellowship, 1917–19). European Fellowship, American Association of University Women, 1926–27.

Instructor in History, 1913–16, University of Nebraska; Instructor in History, 1919–20, Assistant Professor, 1920–24, Associate Professor, 1924—, Mount Holyoke College.
