Wendy K. Tam Cho is professor of political science and of statistics and senior research scientist at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She received her Ph.D from U.C. Berkeley in 1997. She is also a faculty member in the Illinois Informatics Institute and affiliated with the computational science and engineering program, the CyberGIS Center for Advanced Digital and Spatial Studies, and the Cline Center for Democracy, all at the University of Illinois. She is the former editor of Political Analysis, and has served on the editorial boards of nine academic journals. Her work has been supported by research grants from the National Science Foundation and computing grants on the Blue Waters supercomputer. She founded and teaches at the Champaign-Urbana Math Circle.

She conducts research on statistical and computational models for social science, looking for ways to advance social science in step with scientific and technological growth. Her fellowship work is aimed at harnessing the power of information by developing statistical and mathematical models to guide computing technology toward intelligent information extraction.
